What a brilliant way to end the week!
Happy days in the South indeed! Bring on some more beer!
Despite an early yellow card (4′) for David Alaba, it has been a super football match with a close call at 2-1 in favor of the reds during half time courtesy of a brace from the prolific scorer Thomas Mueller and Frenchman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
After half time, the satanic Robert Lewandowski pulls the trigger as early as 46′ to give Bayern a confident lead at 3-1. It could have been four goals at 55′ but Mario Goetze missed that shot from the left. Two minutes later though, he fed the ball to his former BVB teammate giving Bayern that 4-1 lead and Lewy’s brace for this match.
At 66′, Mario Goetze scored from a missed Thiago attempt. Oh yeah!
Manu the Great Wall did save two crucial attempts from the arch rival at 70′ and 78′ respectively from Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Marco Reus. Take note, he was inside his box/area.
There have been several chances too of a goal but I am
an insatiable fan so it hurts somehow that they were intercepted pretty content with that five goals.
Bonus: Ha! And have you seen Manuel Neuer’s face after that Aubameyang goal? Typical Manu, funny nevertheless. No, you do not mess up with his pristine sheets.
Trivia: apparently, Diego Benaglio (5-1) goalie from Wolfsburg and Roman Burki (5-1) goalie from BVB are both Swiss goalies! What a coincidence!
I will close this post by quoting Pep Guardiola. “No one has won the German title today. We have to keep our feet on the ground.”
With that said I expect more slaying from Bayern. The goals should not stop from this amazing win.
