I did not wake up at 2:30 AM to be stressed out like that.
It seemed like an uphill climb for the German National Team before concluding this match against Georgia in Leipzig with a final score of 2-1.
No polished finish. Well, it took a flawless penalty kick and a substitution to get two goals thanks to Thomas Mueller and Max Kruse respectively. They were on fire on the first half, attempting one goal after the other (if I am not mistaken, the possession of Germany is at 66% for this match?) but Georgian goalkeeper Nukri Revishvili has been superb aside from the fact that a. the shots were predictable b. there was no polished finish from our lads (expect for Kruse’s of course). Sorry for this, I like him but…come on Marco (Reus) what went wrong there? The Borussia Dortmund star could have nailed a hattrick tonight (I was thinking too that it was Reus vs. Revishvili). I remembered last week’s match between FC Bayern and Dortmund when one of the commentators were underscoring that Die Mannschaft lacks a legit central striker (like Robert Lewandowski, Luis Suarez, Karim Benzema etc). which brings me back to good old 2013 when I started watching football matches. Mario Gomez, the boy from Stuttgart! Can we enlist him again for the next big tournaments, please? We need his services!
The heart of Georgia. I give it to them. Maybe Die Mannschaft sucks at qualifying and friendly games but surely this national team gave Deutschland a run for its money tonight. This team knew how to seize the moment, imposing an equalizer soon after Thomas converted the penalty kick into a goal. A small team from a young nation rattling a giant, a World Champion like Germany — not bad. Great effort!
Manuel Neuer (who was skipper for this match) was fantastic as usual saving two critical shots (wish I had taken down notes) from a fighting Georgian squad.

Seems accurate to me but still! Come on, jungs! Please?
Alright, maybe I will grab breakfast now. It’s quite crazy to be awake in the wee hours when I knew that kind of sleep was rare lately. What can I say? I love Die Mannschaft so much I just let go of that chance for a good night’s sleep.
